Accessibility

Ann Summers has placed huge importance on the accessibility of our website. Not only does it look great, it's really easy to use too. We've tried to make this site as accessible as possible to all user groups, including the disabled, the visually impaired and those with motor deficiencies and cognitive disabilities.

Please read some of the accessibility features we have implemented as part of the site design and improved usability. We've made improvements for screen readers, keyboard navigation, text-only browsers, mobile phones amongst others.

We've used clear, simple language which is easy to understand. We have also tried to keep it sexy as only Ann Summers knows how, but all the information you require is present.

We've used common web conventions.

We've used validated HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

We've avoided the use of blinking or flickering elements although some of our images may still cause offence.

We have tested the site thoroughly to try and ensure compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). In some instances the website uses enhanced features via JavaScript. We highly recommend having JavaScript enabled.

Although we have worked hard to provide equivalent functionality with JavaScript, this is not always achievable.

We've paid particular attention to the use of colour on our site. We want to make the site look sexy, but we also want to make it easy to use for everyone, especially those with visual impairments.

Our site is usable by anyone with colour deficient vision. All our combinations of font and background colours have carefully been considered with regards to colour blindness conditions whilst also ensuring the information is clear and easy to use.

We've used clear and legible fonts for all text and headings.

Our site uses cascading style sheets (CSS) for visual layout. We've tried to make our site as usable and readable as possible if your browser does not support CSS.

We use alt tags and image tags for non-text elements in order to help screen readers and wider accessibility of our site.

We provide detailed descriptions of all our products so that it is possible to shop our site without the use of images. We would however strongly recommend displaying our images at all times as they are fabulous.

Ann Summers has paid close attention to the links and structuring of the site. We've tried to make it as comprehensive as possible so that it is easy to navigate around the site. The site is easy to use for all users to navigate, including those with visual impairments, motor deficiencies and cognitive disabilities.

Our website does not use pop-up windows unless they are appropriate such as enlarged images. We do carefully consider when we use pop-ups, sometimes it is important to see the browser window you've just navigated from in the background.

The Ann Summers pages have been designed to try and ensure the content is easily accessible. The structural mark-up has been designed to follow WCAG guidelines.
