What is Pegging?

For couples who are looking to spice things up in the bedroom, there are all kinds of options from new sex toys to roleplay. But have you ever considered role reversal to take things to a new (and very different) level in the bedroom? More and more open-minded couples are trying out pegging as a way of adding some new excitement to sex.

But what is pegging and how can you introduce it into the bedroom? We’ve put together a pegging guide to help you discover the joys at home.

What Does Pegging Mean?

To put it simply, pegging is when a woman wears a strap-on performs penetrative anal sex on her male partner. Pegging can be a great way to experiment with role reversal and domination, as the female typically takes control.

For many couples, pegging probably comes as a natural next step following initial anal play with fingers and anal toys such as butt plugs and anal beads. For others, even wearing a strap on or seeing your partner wearing one may feel a little intimidating at first. The decision to try pegging should always follow on from an open and honest conversation between you and your partner about your desires and how comfortable you feel.

Common Pegging Questions

In recent years, pegging has become a much more talked about subject and is beginning to step out of the shadows as a great option for experimenting couples. This doesn’t mean there aren’t still a lot of questions that surround it. We’ve tried our best to answer a couple of common questions.

“How Does it Feel to be Pegged?”

Pegging means the man handing over the usual control he may have in the bedroom. Now, this doesn’t mean that women aren’t usually in control (far from it!), what we mean is that the penis generally puts the man in a dominant position in a lot of sex positions. With pegging, it’s likely he’ll have no choice but to become a little submissive. So, if he likes the idea of being submissive, it should feel good in that sense.

In terms of the sensations, pegging can be a great way to stimulate his prostate and intensify his orgasms. If he’s not sure whether he’ll like the feeling of anal penetration, it’s definitely not the place to start. If you’ve already tried anal play together, it’s an option worth exploring.

“Does Pegging Make You Gay?”

A question that’s often typed into search engines by some is “does pegging make you gay?” We can inform any men looking for answers, that pegging absolutely, 100% does not make you gay!

Anal play has nothing to do with sexuality. For both sexes, the anus is packed with nerve endings and, for men, the infamous P-spot (prostate) can be found inside the anus. This means it can be incredibly pleasurable receiving anal stimulation, and certainly doesn’t bring your sexuality into question. Sexuality is about much more than just what type of sex you enjoy, but you already knew that!

“Why Does My Husband Want Me to Peg Him?”

This answer to this question is somewhat similar to the one above. It might seem like a left-field suggestion if you’ve never tried anal before but take the time to have the conversation and ask why it is that he wants you to peg him.

The idea of your other half asking you to wear a strap-on dildo and penetrate him can potentially be shocking, but if you take the time to communicate about it, you might find that you both learn a little more about what you like in the bedroom.

Pegging for Beginners: How to Prepare for Pegging

number 1

Communication is Key – Before, during, after – all the way through! Pegging is quite often a totally new experience for couples, so it’s important to ensure you’re both on the same page throughout the whole thing. As a woman, you might feel uncomfortable with your newfound phallus, as a man, you might feel the same about being submissive to it. This is all perfectly normal and talking about these feelings will help.

number 2

Source Your Strap-on – Unlike some things in the bedroom, pegging needs certain items readily available in order to work. Firstly, you’ll need to find a strap-on dildo. This should be something you both choose together. There are all kinds of shapes and sizes available, some that look very phallic, some not so much so. Make sure you pick something that’s comfortable for both of you.

number 3

Lube Lube Lube – We mention this in our anal sex guide for beginners, but lube plays a vital part in ensuring a pain-free time. Make sure you’ve chosen the right type of lube for pegging, if you’re in any doubt you can read more in our ‘How to Use Lube’ guide.

number 4

Get Warmed Up – Nobody likes being caught cold, especially if you’re trying something new. Warm up to pegging with foreplay, just like you would any type of penetrative sex. It’s a good idea to use fingers or another toy before your strap-on. You have much more control over this than you will when trying to work out how to use a strap-on for the first time.

number 5

Keep it Clean – As with any sort of anal play, cleanliness is important. Jumping in the shower beforehand can often give you both that extra bit of confidence before starting. Any sort of anal play requires you both to feel comfortable and being clean can be the first step in this. Also, remember not to share any toys that haven’t been thoroughly washed first.

number 6

Relax! – Easier said than done, right? It’s important that you both feel fully relaxed here. It’ll make the whole experience more fun for you both. As you’re both in untested waters, things may not go entirely smoothly but this is fine. Just enjoy yourselves.

Pegging can be an amazing and intimate way for you and your partner to try something a little different in the bedroom and explore each other’s fantasies and desires. Just experiment, have fun and see what works for you!
