ANN SUMMERS SEX TOY RECYCLING SERVICE
From 1st July 2007, new government regulations called the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations came into force to encourage people to arrange collection or recycling of old electrical goods, rather than simply throwing them away.
How can I recycle my old electrical and electronic sex toys?
Ann Summers offers a free in-store collection for used electronic sex toys. For each electronic sex toy you purchase from us, you can return one equivalent used item to any of our stores. We will then recycle the item on your behalf.
Whether you have purchased your new item from an Ann Summers store, the annsummers.com website, by Mail order or through Party Plan, you can still take advantage of our recycling scheme.
Within 28 days of purchasing your new product form us, simply take your used item to any Ann Summers store along with your purchase receipt or internet confirmation email.
Why should waste electrical goods be recycled?
Recycling unwanted electrical goods is better for the environment. The amount of electrical waste that is thrown away is increasing by around 5% each year.
Currently over 75% waste electrical goods end up in landfill, where lead and other toxins contained in electrical goods can potentially cause soil and water contamination. This can have a very harmful effect on the natural habitat, wildlife and also human health. When situated near populated areas these toxins can cause problems to communities as their water and soil is polluted.
All Ann Summers manufactures items that can be recycled, which helps to save natural resources and reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending waste electrical goods to landfill.
Do you only recycle Ann Summers products?
No. For each electronic sex toy you purchase from us, we will accept any equivalent used item for recycling* - regardless of its brand or where it was purchased from.
*You must make sure that the product is clean and safe. We reserve the right to refuse sex toys that are not presented in a clean and safe manner.
How will I know whether my new sex toy can be recycled?
All new electrical and electronic products sold now carry the ‘crossed out wheelie bin ’ logo to help you identify which products are recyclable.
What happens to my unwanted sex toy?
The products will be sent from our stores to an authorised recycling centre on your behalf. If you are not purchasing a new toy from us visit Recycling website for more information.
